Cut the Chauvinism

I'm all for patriotism, but when it turns into chauvinism I believe we need to cut it out.  Our excessive pride in country needs to be tempered so that we can accept the new people and their ideas.

Too many broadcast executives believe that radio is dead. They couldn't be more wrong. As an assistant producer at BYU Radio, I'm here to share some ideas about how radio can continue to play a vibrant role within broadcast organizations, if given appropriate attention and utilized properly.

In Regards to the Internet

People give to much authority to information circling the web. We need to start taking more caution in how much trust we put into articles, reviews, and yes, even videos giving us information on the internet.

Millennials of all lands, Vote!

There are many issues with our current system of voting, but one of the primary ones is that there is a restriction on who can vote. People who do not have the time to stand around in seemingly endless lines aren't allowed to vote. The idea that people should vote because they have the ability to vote is a priceless enlightenment ideal, but it needs to be updated to the modern age.

The other day as I sat watching television with my little brother I was surprised at how often filth appeared through word and image. We began talking about how this vulgar material is permitted on family television. Why is it that something so harmful and dishonorable is so casually accepted through social mediums in this day and age?

9 to 5 No More: A Demand for Alternative Workplace Systems in the 21st Century

I am calling on corporate America to consider exploring alternative workplace systems. Granting employees autonomy over their schedules increases productivity and encourages innovation. Society would do well to consider whether the 40-hour workweek is the best system for the future. Enjoy!

Education and Technology

When I was young some of my teachers assumed that I had a learning disability until. Although that all changed in 5th grade with Mr. Ellefson. He made education fun and exciting. He worked with me and helped me see that I could learn. One of my favorite projects from his class was my state report. We spent much time preparing for the presentation of our projects by walking as a class to a nearby computer lab. We were given the freedom to use the internet to find information on our state and put it together in a power point presentation. I always looked forward to going to the computer lab and I felt as though I learned so much from that project. This was my first real use of the internet to help me in my school work. Technology has changed a lot since then and is even more helpful yet we aren't taking full advantage of all it has to offer. With proper structure, guidance and protection I believe that kids can and should be allowed to take full advantage of technology to help them learn. Here are some more of my thoughts on the matter:
