The Greeks established the ancient Olympic games with historical records all tracing back all the way to 776 BC. Among my favorite sporting events to watch are those of the Olympics. I think I could get along with the Greeks. Many of the competitions today in the Olympics such as; boxing, wrestling, running and discus throw originate from the Greeks and their Olympic events.
The American culture is very similar in so many ways. I find myself appreciating these same kinds of physical competition as did the Greeks.
Whether at a professional level, an amateur level or in front of the world in the Olympics it is an exciting opportunity to participate in as well as view such acts of physical strength and ability.
Although there are differences, so many of the sports and entertainment that I do now were done by men and woman 1000's of years ago. History sure does repeat itself (who knows, maybe they even played football)... That being said a wise man once was heard to say, "you can never step in the same river twice."

Our bodies are incredible! And it is incredible what we can do with them. One time I went to a track meet and watched one of my friends run the anchor leg of the 4x400. It was the most impressive performance I ever beheld! He looked like a Greek God as he mowed down the competition.
ReplyDeleteDid the women participate in sports and entertainment, too? I thought only men were allowed.
