9 to 5 No More: A Demand for Alternative Workplace Systems in the 21st Century

I am calling on corporate America to consider exploring alternative workplace systems. Granting employees autonomy over their schedules increases productivity and encourages innovation. Society would do well to consider whether the 40-hour workweek is the best system for the future. Enjoy!

  2. I think this is such a good idea! 9-5 doesn't get anything done. Work time does. At normal 9-5 jobs, employees try to do as much of their personal business as they can on company time. Here is a good example of a company that is breaking the 9-5 mold:

The CEO said they don't want their employees to take work hom but "employees should bring their “whole selves” to work"

  3. Carlos Slim, a mexican telecom mogul, is convinced that three 12 hour workdays, followed by a four day weekend, is the wave of the future. I think that it is interesting to see the different ideas compared to a standard 9-5 schedule. I wonder if having a more individualized work program would also lead to a more individualized educational program.

  4. Good job pointing out that this wouldn't work for everyone. For some businesses, I think the idea is a good one! Your video should go viral. Come on class, let's make this work, for a shorter work week!
