Crossing Points

I’m a firm believer that a long walk is good for the soul. A 26,000 foot-long walk, 200 feet above water is downright healing.

When I was in high school, I had a somewhat rocky relationship with my father. I was a “sassy” teenager and found nearly everything as a valid point of argumentation. Needless to say, this left my dad and me in a few-too-many nose-to-nose arguments. And the time we spent together was spent warily at best.

And then Labor Day came along.

Each fall, people from all across Michigan gather together on the first Monday of September to walk across the largest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere. And that year, on the first Sunday of September, my dad decided he wanted to go. With me.
